A passion for sound and incorporating sound in new and innervative ways is what inspires Robert Healey AKA Ghostsoul to create his compositions. In every piece there is a constant expansion and recombining of styles and genres to create a unique and maliable audio experience that makes every piece of music a new world unto itself. As a composer and sound designer Ghostsoul is always looking to expand his knowledge of compositional ideas and techniques in an effort to constantly create something new that still holds true to his love for dub classical and electronic music. These elements can be heard in his energetic live sets that cross genres and create a unique musical experience.
His musical journey started years ago after being introduced to programs like Rebirth and Reason and sampler instruments such as the MC 505. After finding a world of music held in these devices and programs he started to create, at first the sounds were clumsy but as time progressed so did an understanding of music composition. Over the years he worked with many people musicians, producers, DJ's and vocalists the experience of which lead him to travel around Australia playing music to crowds at all corners.
Ghostsouls first releases where independent and without a label of any kind 2010 he put out his first EP Monsta a reflection on his time as a funky breaks DJ and producer with tastes of trip hop and instrumental hip hop. In 2010 he was invited to be part of the Ghetto arts crew a briefly lived Melbourne collective promoting emerging hip hop and glitch hop artists. Through the support collective he released his 2011 EP Broken Symmetry an EP that was a formation of a new sound that was heavily influenced by the sounds of glitch hop, dub and instrumental hip hop. 2012 sees Ghostsoul putting out his first label release with Hopskotch Records a Melbourne based label this new EP will be furthering his slip into the glitch hop and future beat sound He will soon also be putting out his first vinyl release with B-label a newly established label based in London.
In 2012 Ghostsoul has begun his work as a sound designer and Composer for Australian production company Renegade Factual with tunes on their documentary Subtopia and Composing an original Score for the Documentary Future radicals a film about the outlawed hacker group the Anonymous.
